September to December

September to December every year the female Big Black Marlin come into the Reefs of North Queensland to spawn. The area is huge, over 200 nm long. Most of the breeders are between 700 and 1300lbs.

There are also many male marlin 200 lbs up with the females which give our anglers plenty of chances to catch all sizes of marlin.

It is a fact that 70% of all 1000+lbs marlin in the world caught or released each year are caught of the Great Barrier Reef. If you want to catch a grander marlin, fishing off Cairns is by far the best chance you can give yourself. The action never stops from dawn to dusk.

Queensland – Gold Coast January to May

The fishing grounds off South East Queensland’s Gold Coast provide great light and heavy tackle fishing for black marlin, striped marlin and blue marlin as well as a range of pelagic species such as wahoo, yellow fin tuna and mahi mahi.

The fishing is so good here that in the first half of the year, the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise clubs host tournaments that bring anglers from all over the country to the coast.

One of the great pluses of the Gold Coast is you can bring the family and they can go to some of the many amusment parks while you go fishing.
