Our black marlin fishing season Cairns 2014 started the year with Townsville tournament. I have been fishing with Eddie Shi for 23 years now and we had a great time. Eddie managed to come away with arms full of prizes and trophies – heaviest gamefish , daily and overall prizes! Well done Eddie we look forward to seeing you again. Our next trip was with a group from Brisbane. Mat, Brad, James and Jack started and finished with a bang! The boys enjoyed some great fishing (including some sailfish) and spent quality time with their good friend Sabrina. Mark and Paul were up next keen to hit the light tackle grounds. They enjoyed some great fishing and weather which is always a bonus! Our next adventure was with Neville and Steve from the GC. We went 2 for 2 on black marlin and had some great laughs. The guys got off the boat in awe of all things pointy nosed and with a hunger to come back and do it again. Our next for a trip was up to Cooktown, with a great group of guys. We caught some good red emperors and finished with a black marlin in the 600lb range. The Lizard Island tournament was again a great tournament. We fished with Stew and Phil, great friends from the UK. Stew joined the 1000lb club during the tournament with a great fish he released estimated at 1050lb. Phil with a 900lb fish was close but not close enough. We finished with 6 fish 1000,900,700,600,500,300 and had some great laughs mother shipping on the Aroona. Taking us back to port was honeymoon couple Derek and Danielle from New Jersey. We mixed it up and had some great GT fishing and managed 2 black marlin in the 300 lb range and broke the leader on a fish in the 1000lb + range. Great times and good laughs had by all. Joining us from Sydney were Greg and Amy. We kicked straight off with a 68lb spanish mackerel and had 4 bites on our first day catching a small blue marlin! The spearfishing and bottom fishing was fantastic as was the company. Our next trip was with good friends and local identity Lui. We headed up to Lizard Island for 5 days of relaxing, fishing, eating, drinking, eating AND oh did I mention eating! Great trip with great friends…They even managed a 800lb black with capt sparrow on the way home! Joining us again for the ladies 50lb world record chase was Katie Ripper. Unfortunately the fish gods were not with us and the record went to another boat, congratulations. As we headed into November the bite started to move south and our next charter good friend and client Steve from kentucky celebrated his birthday in style with 5 fish on the first day, 3 of them over 900 lb and one around the magic 1000lb. This was an amazing effort as we only had one angler, one crewman and a triple header with all 3 rods hooked up. The very next day Steve caught another fish in the 900 lb range and another small one. Amazing fishing!!!!!! The fish gods were shinning on us for that trip. Finishing off our season were local anglers Colin, Damo and Byron. We had great light tackle fishing followed by a black in the 800 lb range and another around 500lb. A perfect way to finish the season.

Again it was a great season with amazing results. Without a question Cairns is still the best place to catch that fish of a lifetime! Thanks again to my crew Ty, Shanno and Troy and of course all of the anglers that make it possible. I am seriously filling up for this year so please contact me to secure your preferred dates for our Cairns Season 2015!
