As we say good bye to another Cairns heavy tackle season, we reflect on what an amazing season it was! One of the best, best fishing we have ever seen, Crazy Crazy Crazy are just some of the sayings coming out in the wash up. Many boats had a record year and Castille Charters was certainly one them. This season was by far our best ever Cairns Heavy Tackle Season to date. This season marked a return of the big girls for Castille Charters in numbers you could only dream of. We released 15 fish well over the 750lb and so many fish under that, that we stopped counting. The sheer number of large fish we raised and released this year was just amazing and we are very grateful to have been able to give our clients those once in a lifetime experience. The standout from this year is the wonderful charter we had with Frank and Anne, over from from San Antonio Texas. Frank first fished here in the early 70s and has been coming back ever since. Frank at 77 years old, angles by IGFA rules and in 1 day, released 3 black marlins at 950lb, 900lb and 1000lb. Frank caught 6 black marlins over 900 lb in 4 days & 9 over 800lb in 8 days in some of the most amazing fishing anyone aboard Castille Charters has ever seen. And just as the season started to wind up and the boats started to leave the reef, we finished our stellar season with 4 from 5 on our last charter. It doesn’t get any better than that!
Stay tuned for our season wrap up from Captain Brad Craft!

Port Stephens 2014
Castille will now start her journey home to the Gold Coast where she will have a short rest and then begin 2014. First up it’s down to Port Stephens chasing the Striped Marlin season. Rained out last year with atrocious weather, we are hoping for a big season this year to top the previous years where we tagged 30 tipped marlins in 5 days.
